In a medium bowl, Mix sugar and warm water, Sprinkle yeast and slightly stir to combine. Let stand for 5 minutes until the mixture is foamy. Make sure the water is warm and not hot or else it will kill the yeast.
Once the yeast mixture is foamy, Add into the flour mixture then knead until it forms a dough. Add the softened butter little by little while kneading, continue until it becomes smooth and shiny, About 5-10 minutes. It will become sticky at this stage, just knead until the butter is fully incorporated and smooth. Dough may be a bit sticky or tacky after kneading.
Gently punch down dough then divide into 2 and roll each into a long log.
Rest the dough for 10 minutes then then cut 16 pieces of dough in each log. Total of 32 pieces on both logs. Around 1.5cm wide each pieces.
